Takes place near the start of Better Angels.
Maybe she'd felt his eyes boring into her at Dale's gravesite.
Maybe it was woman's intuition.
Whatever it was, Carol took action, as she always did - just as he took action when there was a job to be done.
Daryl needed to see her cry; to acknowledge the ultimate final loss of Sophia. He wanted her to grieve with tears so that he wouldn't seem such a sissy should he need to shed his own tears. The pain and frustration were that great. But nothing had moved her to that point yet. He was beginning to wonder if anything could.

accomplishedIn general, rooks are stronger than bishops or knights. I was originally going to make Glen and Daryl knights, but then I realized that would limit their mobility. Rooks can occupy any square on the board.
Knights have unusual moves. Yup, that about sums up Andrea and Shane.
The British chose to call the piece the bishop because the projections at the top resembled a mitre. This groove was interpreted differently in different countries; in France, for example, the groove was taken to be a jester's cap, hence in France the bishop is called "fou" (the fool). In some Slavic languages (e.g. Czech/Slovak) the bishop is called "střelec/strelec", which directly translates to English as a "shooter" meaning an archer. So Daryl should then be the Bishop. But somehow I couldn't get away from Daryl as a Rook and Dale as the Bishop. He's rather preachy and also sometimes taken for a fool.
......why pawns are so important in chess strategy. The answer is simple. Pawns are very immobile, almost motionless for the majority of the game. But it is this immobility that gives the position its character. The pawn structure lays out the terrain for the coming battle, providing lines for your army. This is how Carl and Carol became pawns. I didn't think of them as sacrifical, but rather as a reason to plan the coming battle to protect them. We already have our sacrifical pawns in Sophia and Jim and maybe Merle - but we don't feel too bad about Merle!
Anyhow, here is my assignment of roles!

From the corner of his eye, Daryl watched Carol’s fingers gently caress the feathers dangling from the elaborate dream catcher hanging in the barn. Some lame fool must have left it there during another lifetime. He was pretty sure horses didn’t have nightmares.
Caress. There was a word Merle would know nothing about. Just one of the differences between the brothers, a difference he celebrated and was ashamed of at the same time. He continued grooming the horse. Brush, stroke, brush, stroke.
“What are you doin’?”

happyHappy Valentine's Day!
I was lucky enough to catch a part in this awesome vid collab hosted by TatyanaOracle.
Here is my part with the blurb I wrote on YouTube and below is the full vid:
I chose Daryl and Carol from the Walking Dead for this Valentine's Day collab. What an unlikely pairing! Or is it?
He brings her a flower with a story about mothers' tears. He almost loses his life to find her lost daughter. It's a wonderful layer to a character that outwardly projects something much harder and uncaring. And she has her eyes open enough to see it.
The complete collab can be seen here:

Thanks to Tatyana for hosting and letting me play!! I loved my little piano interlude!
